Most engineering solutions, even some parts of AI and programming, were inspired by or borrowed straight from the vivid fauna and flora surrounding us. Follow this animal friendly lesson series for a wholesome dose of biology, science, engineering, programming and interesting zoology trivia.

Contents Requirements

This themed series revolves around animals, their presence on Earth and stunning adaptive solutions they use to survive and thrive. The series is composed of 12 comprehensive robotics lessons designed to inspire and teach. In every lesson you will find:

  • extensive introduction illustrated with graphics and animations,
  • detailed instructions for building the robot,
  • step-by-step programming guide,
  • educational mini games and other extras,
  • printable lesson plan for the teacher,
  • access to additional teaching resources.

Lesson plans

GORILLA
Take your robotic gorilla out for a snack. He’s obviously hungry, as he will follow the bananas wherever they go. During this lesson you will build and program your friendly primate, and learn more about these endangered animals.
DRAGONFLY
Did you know that dragonflies lived alongside dinosaurs? There’s many more interesting facts you can learn about them. The best way is to build and code your own robotic model and watch it glide through the air.
FROGS
Two jumping frogs are much better than just one. Especially with so many species around the world! Assemble this amphibian jumping competition, create program with separate scripts and decide which frog should jump first.
VENUS FLYTRAP
Carnivorous plants are extraordinary. Having a robotic version of one is even more uncommon! You can create it with bricks, sensors and code, then observe how it catches everything in its line of sight.
NEST
How do robotic nestlings know when to ask for food? Thanks to their sensors! Young birds need nutrition to grow and these two demand it by chirping and jumping. Build, code and learn what homes other birds live in.
SCORPION
Although this scorpion is not venomous, it’s definitely dangerous and ready for hunting. Explore how amazing these creatures truly are in nature by building and programming this beautiful robotic scorpion.
GIRAFFE
Create your miniature giraffe and program it to reach green leaves on the upper tree branches. Connect bricks, mesh gears and set your code in motion. Meanwhile, expect to discover interesting facts about these impressive animals.
HORSE
Horses and ponies can be kind, dependable and powerful companions. Now you can find out even more about them by completing this project. Assemble your own robotic horse and enter the world of equestrian enthusiasts.
BULL
Most ruminants are peaceful and patient, some can even predict the weather. And this one clearly doesn’t want to stay confined. Build, code and learn more about the relations between cows and people.
TURTLE
In the wild, turtles are wary by nature. This robotic turtle needs your help. Install gear transmission and motor to make his head move, next equip him with sensor to detect possible danger. He’ll surely be grateful!
PELICAN
Pelicans are skillful in both swimming and flying. By constructing this robotic pelican, you will learn many interesting facts about pelicans and understand how birds move their wings to stay in the air.
PARROTS
These parrots can really fly! If only for a short period of time. Help them reach the skies by constructing an advanced launching mechanism and find out more about these stunningly beautiful and intelligent birds.
